Fiorentina midfielder Felipe Melo scored his first goal in Serie A this afternoon in the 2-1 win against Atalanta at the Artemio Franchi stadium, in the eleventh matchday of Serie A.
Melo scored the opening goal in today's win for the Viola as he proved decisive from the long distance thanks to a particular training he is doing during the week.
"I'm working a lot on the shots from the distance, so I tried my luck and it went in," explained the Brazilian midfielder to Sky.
"Now I have more experience in this role. With Almeria I played more forward, but now I'm getting used to this role."
Melo wanted to dedicate this goal to his daughter and in particular to God.
"I had asked God to help me do well," he continued. "I dedicate the goal first to God and then to my daughter, Pietra, who will arrive in December."
The only problem that Melo saw in this game was the Tuscan side's failure in closing the game.
"We failed again to score other goals," he added. "We had two or three more chances against Atalanta, whereas they only had one and scored from the penalty spot.
"However this is football and the three important points arrived. As always, now we must go forward, work and improve."
