New Fiorentina midfielder Sergio Almiron is looking forward to his new adventure in La Viola jersey and he can’t wait to get started. The club's sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has also declared their transfer campaign as over.
The Argentine midfielder signed a year-long loan deal from Juventus on Tuesday and he may end up staying at the Artemio Franchi permanently.
Almiron never had the best of times in Turin but he is trying to look forwards rather than backwards as he prepares for his new role.
The former Empoli man believes Juventus have made a mistake by letting him leave, as he reveals some bitterness against his old side.
“I have plenty of determination to show that I can do something,” said Almiron at his unveiling this afternoon.
“I cannot wait to start. Juve? I would prefer not to talk about them. First Ranieri said yes and then there was no space.
“I tried my best at Juve and I always knew that other teams were after me.
“I am happy to be here and I will try to give my best all the time. There are some great players here as well.
“The pitch will tell whether we are at the same level as Juve, I think we are.
“I have come here to prove myself and to prove Juve that they have made a mistake by not giving me more of a chance.”
Meanwhile, Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has officially closed La Viola’s transfer market by insisting that Sergio Almiron is their last signing.
“This really is our last signing,” said the sporting director.
“Everyone knows how we are focussed on Serie A and the Champions League.
“Montolivo and Gulan are at the Olympics and Jorgensen is not in form, therefore we took Almiron on the conditions we proposed to Juve.
“He is an important midfielder with a habit of going forward and we are happy to have him with us.”
