Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli talked about his affection for the club's fans and revealed that two years ago he was close to leaving
The relationship between coach Cesare Prandelli and Fiorentina seems destined to endure for a very long time. In an interview given to Radio Toscana, Prandelli talked about his affection for the club's fans and admitted that he was close to leaving two years ago.
"I have a good relationship with the people of Florence," he said. "Probably they see me as a balanced person, they can show their love even when they are depressed after a defeat. Florence has given me affection and enthusiasm.
"However, it's true that two years ago [in the middle of the Calciopoli scandal which Fiorentina were involved in] when I was negotiating for the contract renewal, I could have gone elsewhere but I chose to stay in Florence."
The 50-year-old coach will try to steer Fiorentina into the Champions League group stage for the first time in his reign after the club finished 4th in Serie A last season.
