Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli believes the Azzurri will have a good Euro 2008 tournament and he is confident of the team's chances of glory.
The former Parma tactician was in Florence to witness the Azzurri’s impressive 3-1 win over Belgium in the friendly game on Friday night and he is confident of Italy’s abilities to have a very successful campaign during the European Championship.
“I saw a very good Italy side on Friday evening,” Prandelli told ANSA.
“The side has some good, clear ideas and I am confident that they can do very well in Austrian and Switzerland.”
The coach also had a few words on his new signing Alberto Gilardino and he insists his side still need to strengthen.
“I am sure the player can return to the levels he displayed when he was at Parma,” said the tactician.
“We still need to bolster our squad as we played 56 games this season and next term it will be tough again.”
Prandelli guided his Viola side into the Champions League this term and he will be hoping his team can go on to rise to the pinnacle of European football.
The Viola were last involved in the competition during the 1999/00 season.
