Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli is delighted following his side’s 2-0 win over Slavia Prague in the first leg of the Champions League preliminaries.
La Viola had no trouble in dealing with the Czech champions as the home side dominated the game from start to finish.
A stunning free kick from Adrian Mutu and a header from Alberto Gilardino ensure the Italian side head to Prague with their heads high in two weeks.
Prandelli is pleased with the result but he knows his side aren’t through to the group stages just yet.
“We had a great first leg, now there’s the second in Prague. I am pleased with the team and the fans tonight,” Prandelli told RAI after the game.
“We have 15 days to prepare, were are not shinning just yet but we are organised.
“Gila? Mutu? They have always done well and I never had any doubts on Gila. He has a sense of goal.
“Second leg? It will be different in Prague. For now we’ll rest.”
Fiorentina clash with Slavia Prague on 27 August and they will be hoping to complete the Italian job and continue the purple reign in the Champions League.
