Catania sports chief Pietro Lo Monaco has confirmed that Juan Manuel Vargas will join Fiorentina.
Vargas, who is nicknamed ‘Catania’s Roberto Carlos’ by his club supporters, was magnificent in Sicily last season, and was undoubtedly the best left back in Serie A.
It has been well known that both Fiorentina and Real Madrid were chasing the 24-year-old, but Lo Monaco has now confirmed that Vargas will sign for the Italian outfit from Tuscany.
"We are all done," Lo Monaco told Radio Kiss Kiss.
"Catania and Fiorentina have reached an agreement and there will be no problems for the transfer of Vargas to the Viola."
Lo Monaco also believes that Vargas’ career will go from strength to strength at the Stadio Franchi.
"I do not think there will be problems for him,” he continued.
“We are happy he is going to Florence, where he will be under a great coach like Prandelli, who knows how to enhance the skills of his players.
“The defender is young and still has room for improvement in Florence."
