Arsenal Fail In Zapata Bid Udinese are reported to have rejected a 12m euros bid from Arsenal for Cristian Zapata.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger did well to keep his interest in the highlyregarded 21-year-old hidden from the press, but was less successfull inconvincing the Serie A club to part with their Colombian gem.
The'Zebrette' are in an enviable negotiating position as Zapata hasfour-years left on his contract at the Friuli and is a known target ofMilan, Juventus, Internazionale and Fiorentina.
According to theItalian press, Udinese sporting director Giampaolo Pozzo would not partwith Zapata for anything less than 20 million euros, which is likelywell in excess of what the famously frugal London side are likelywilling to spend.
Zapata was an absolute rock at the back forUdinese last season, and was largely responsible for the modestlyresourced side qualifying for the Uefa Cup.
