Despite minor injury worries, Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has joined Romania on international duty for their World
Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Austria.
"My left knee is still causing me some pain, but for me that is normal and I will play," he admitted, as quoted by Eurosport.
"I can promise fans that despite the pain, I will give everything to help the team win. I would ask the fans to support us, because we need their encouragement."
The 30-year-old also believes he will continue to be a presence on the international stage down the line.
"This is not the last chance for players of my generation to qualify for the World Cup. I want to play with Romania for another five years and go to the event in 2014 in Brazil," he concluded.
Viola fans will be hoping the Mutu does not aggravate his injury, because the club are making a push for Champions League qualification as the Serie A season draws to a close.
