Fiorentina were convincing 3-1 winners over Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on Monday, in a match that had been delayed due to snowfall from Sunday.
Alberto Gilardino struck in the final minute of the victory to score his 13th league goal, ending a goal-drought that had lasted over a month.
"We put in a great performance and it was a great victory," said an excited Gilardino, according to Calciomercato. "I was calm it was just the goal I was missing."
His strike partner, Adrian Mutu, returned from an elbow injury, scoring two early strikes. "Mutu? I expected him to score," claimed the Italian international. "Adrian gave us a great hand, when he made it 2-0 it was very important."
Despite, the difficulties Fiorentina encountered this season in the Champions League, the 26-year-old still has his eyes on qualifying for the competition for the next campaign.
"We must remain within the Champions League area. Our success today in Bologna has sent a strong signal [to the rest of the league]."
