“我们会把他们作为有情略性的对手看待,我可能会排出三叉戟” Gila relishes Azzurri return
Alberto Gilardino is reveling in his return to the Azzurri set-up, while Mauro Camoranesi has been ruled out of tomorrow’s test against Austria.
After featuring in Italy’s 2006 World Cup triumph, Gilardino dropped out of La Nazionale during a miserable 2007-08 season with Milan.
But the former Parma ace has been handed a fresh start with Fiorentina and has been included in Marcello Lippi’s squad after finding the net in his first official game with the Viola against Slavia Prague.
“I couldn’t have had a better start,” Gila declared to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I am on good form. I scored in my first proper Fiorentina game and now I am in search of an Azzurri goal.
“It is extraordinary to be back in this group and I have been reunited with so many players who I experienced World Cup joy with.
“There is the same enthusiasm for me and I want to be a crucial figure in this new cycle.”
Gilardino has been reunited with Cesare Prandelli at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and is grateful to the man who launched his career at Parma.
“Prandelli always wanted me and I am thankful to him and the club,” the rejuvenated hitman crowed.
“Florence was my first choice and I can return to regular scoring here. I have always worked hard and Lippi has already recognised that.”
Lippi will be without Juventus winger Camoranesi in Nice tomorrow evening after it was confirmed that he had a muscular problem.
“It is better not to risk him,” Lippi stressed. “But we are doing fine and we are training with intensity.
“What do I think of Austria? It’s not true that they had a bad Euro 2008. They didn’t get good results but they played well.
“We will take them on with an aggressive outlook and I’ll probably employ a trident.”
