<>Bojinov makes goal pledge Thursday 7 July, 2005

Fiorentina striker Valeri Bojinov has promised the Viola fans 20 goals in the 2005-06 campaign.

<>"I’ll score 20 goals in the next year," stated the Bulgarian. "Florence will be proud of Fiorentina Football Club.

<>"I will be better than ever, more of a player than I was at Lecce. I’m in good shape and I can’t wait to start playing again."

<>Bojinov scored 13 times in Serie A last term, but rarely found the back of the net following his £11m January move from Lecce because of injury.

He’s keen to make up for that and should be aided by the arrival of a new target man with Luca Toni (Palermo), Vincenzo Iaquinta (Udinese) and Bernardo Corradi (Valencia) all linked.

"Toni, Iaquinta or Corradi? I hope the club sign all three," added the 19-year-old starlet. "That would make us unbelievably strong."

Bojinov should also be assisted in the campaign by new boss Cesare Prandelli, who has a good record of working with youngsters.

"He is the right man to take us to the top," he continued. "We have lost Fabrizio Miccoli (to Juventus) but goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has arrived.

"It’s better to have him in your side rather than trying to score past him…"

The French shot-stopper arrived last month after Fiorentina agreed a one-year loan deal with Parma.
