It is now official that Cristiano Zanetti has joined Fiorentina from Juventus for £1.5m and accepted a substantial pay cut.
The official Viola website announced this afternoon that Zanetti “has signed a two-year contract with an option for a third.
“The player will be presented to the media on Thursday August 13 at the San Piero a Sieve pre-season training camp.”
It is believed the 32-year-old accepted a substantial pay cut to make the move, going from £1.5m to just £1m per season.
Zanetti returns to the Stadio Artemio Franchi, having grown up in their youth academy with only four appearances for the senior squad from 1994 to 1996.
He had one more year on his contract with Juventus and joins another ex-Bianconeri player, Marco Marchionni, in Florence.
