Prandelli: Viola problems solved
Cesare Prandelli assures Fiorentina’s problems “are behind us now” going into the match with Chievo.
“We have worked well and I am very confident. We are closing a difficult cycle of seven games in 20 days and that takes physical and mental energy,” said the Coach.
“I have spoken to the team and our problems are behind us now. The issues between the old and new players has been sorted out and it’s a sign of growth from the side. We won’t need to discuss it again.”
Prandelli had been furious with his squad for lacking team spirit and exhibiting a split between the old guard and new arrivals.
It is reported some of last season’s stars are unhappy that Fabio Liverani was released, as there is no real alternative to his midfield role.
“Every year there is a new problem to face with regards to positions. Felipe Melo is not to be compared with Liverani, we have simply decided to play a different way this season.”
Although they were held 0-0 by Steaua Bucharest midweek in the Champions League, he believes the Viola have turned a corner.
“We need to have faith in our abilities, take more risks in attack and find a level of consistency.”
This Sunday they are looking for their first away victory of the campaign against a Chievo side that has not hit peak form yet.
“Beppe Iachini is tenacious and a good man. We’ll find difficulties in this match and must show the desire and character to win, things that I also saw against Steaua.”
