Steaua defended well to secure a 0-0 draw at the Artemio Franchi, grabbing their first point in Champions League Group F on Tuesday.
However, it was a poor match involving many mistakes in midfield and neither side created any truly dangerous attacks. Fiorentina dominated the game for the most part, but neither Alberto Gilardino nor Adrian Mutu could not get on the scoresheet. In the end, the scoreline echoed what was seen in on the pitch.
Talking about the game, Chiesa said, “Fiorentina did well in the first twenty minutes and I certainly didn't expect to see such a competitive Steaua.
“They are a team who don't allow you to play your game and they make things difficult when the ball's on the ground.
“To reach the knockout rounds, then, the two games against Bayern will probably be decisive.”
The result leaves the Viola level with Olympique Lyon, who drew 1-1 away with group leaders Bayern Munich, on two points. The Germans have four points, whilst the Romanian side are bottom, having taken just a point from their two games.
