Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has expressed his delight after La Viola qualified for the Champions League for the first time in ten years.
Cesare Prandelli’s men defended a 2-0 aggregate lead in Prague against Czech champions Slavia as the game finished 0-0 on the night.
The Viola did enough to complete the job and reach the objective they have been working towards for almost a decade.
“We are delighted to have made it and we would like to salute our fans as they have been waiting for this moment for a long time," said Corvino .
“We have made so many sacrifices and we always knew there was a risk but we were good and we confronted the game in the right way.”
The chief also spoke about Fiorentina’s transfer campaign and he has declared the Viola market closed.
“The team is complete, we have obtained the maximum. If there was an opportunity to sign a defender we would have but there wasn’t.
“We are fine, maybe in January we’ll see.”
The Viola have been excellent all season and they have finally reaped the rewards by getting themselves into Europe’s elite club competition with a professional and accomplished performance.
The draw for the group stages will be made on Thursday afternoon at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.
