Prandelli Wary Of Czech Mate
Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli has warned his Viola side not to be too complacent when they travel to Prague for Wednesday’s Champions League third round, second leg qualifier against Slavia.
The Artemio Franchi-based side take a 2-0 lead with them to the Czech Republic and they are favourites to progress. However, Prandelli is not getting carried away by all the hype of a return to Europe’s big time and he is wary of Karel Jarolim’s side.
“We know that they are ready to give us a game and we have to show that we are ready as well,” said Prandelli.
“We have a slight advantage but this is not enough, we need the right approach and not let out standards fall.
“It’s a nice stadium here and they will have their fans behind them but we must not let ourselves be conditioned by all the things which may be against us.”
The coach also had a few words on Adrian Mutu’s absence from the team. The Romanian international still hasn’t recovered from a dislocated elbow.
“Mutu? The team us doing well without him and we have played very well when he hasn’t been available in the past. I am not looking to lose this game. I want to get through,” added the coach.
“It’s a delicate game but we will give our best to get the right result.”
Prandelli is likely to start off with Alberto Gilardino and Gianpaolo Pazzini up front as he looks to steer the Viola back into the Champions League following a nine year absence. |
