Catania star Juan Manuel Vargas is close to agreeing a Fiorentina switch and President Antonino Pulvirenti expects a number of other departures.
Vargas has caught the eye of a number of Europe’s top sides with his virtuoso performances in Sicily.
And now he is waiting to complete a medical and to put pen to paper with Fiorentina when he returns from international duty with Peru.
All that’s missing is the player’s signature,” agent Gustavo Ghezzi confirmed on Fiorentina.it.
“That should happen shortly, perhaps as soon as he returns from playing for his national team.
“He will undertake a medical and then everything will be solved – there are just some details left and the announcement should be made on June 20.”
Meanwhile, Catania chief Pulvirenti is planning to rebuild when a host of players leave the Stadio Massimino this summer.
“There will be lots of changes this year,” he said on Radio Catanista.
“Lots of players will leave and many of them have made a huge contribution to our cause, but we think that they are the right moves.
“But we must look forward and try and build a squad that are capable of keeping afloat in the top flight.”
