Fiorentina’s midfield magician Riccardo Montolivo has told troubled striker Arturo Lupoli to stay at the club and fight for a place in Cesare Prandelli’s starting eleven.
Lupoli returned to Italy in the Summer after spending 3 years in England with Arsenal and Derby County.

However he has not yet played for his new club and is frustrated. A few days ago the young Brescia-born striker admitted that joining La Viola “was a big mistake”.
Montolivo has now lent support to his team mate, advising him to stay at the club and work hard to break into the side.

“Lupoli don’t go, I know it’s hard to impose yourself at a big club like Fiorentina but I’m telling you to bite your lip and keep working hard alongside Prandelli and the chances will come,” Montolivo told Tuttosport.
The player then went on to say that Lupoli is free to do what he likes but insisted staying at La Viola would be the right decision for the former Arsenal man.

“If Arturo wants to leave then he can go, but I am convinced that he should stay and not be dis**ed by the chance of moving out on loan," he insisted.

It must be recalled that Fiorentina had the same problem with Gianpaolo Pazzini a year or so ago when the striker sat on the bench in Luca Toni’s shadow.
However Pazzini stayed at the club rather than move on and he is now a regular feature in the side and he has ensured his ruthlessness in front of goal means the great Toni is not missed.
